How to Sell at Auction
Sell Contemporary Ceramics & Craft with Confidence
At Maak, we make selling straightforward, transparent, and tailored to you. Whether you're looking to part with a single piece or a whole collection, our team brings care, clarity and extensive expertise. We understand that for some, selling can be an emotional decision after a lifetime of collecting, but we can guide you through every step of the process.
What We Sell
We specialise in Contemporary Ceramics and Craft by leading international studio potters, ceramic artists and craft makers.
Our auctions are curated to represent the full spectrum of artistic and ideological development in contemporary ceramics — from the early traditions of Bernard Leach and William Staite Murray, through to masters like Lucie Rie and Hans Coper, and today’s most influential makers, including Edmund de Waal and Magdalene Odundo.
With prices ranging from £300 to £300,000 we select the very best examples of contemporary ceramics and craft.

How it works

1. Request a Valuation
Send us details and images of your work. Including dimensions and any noted condition issues will allow our specialist team to give the most accurate estimate of what your work is likely to achieve at auction with Maak.

2. Receive Guidance
We’ll review to advise on suitability and provide a free, no obligation auction valuation. We can then suggest the best approach — whether for a specialist auction or private sale.

3. Consign Your Work
If you choose to proceed, we’ll finalise selling fees and a reserve. We’ll then guide you through the consignment process including delivery, shipping or collection.

4. Go to Auction
Once we’ve received the work we’ll handle photography, research and cataloguing. Your work will appear in a carefully curated sale, with global visibility and marketing support.

5. After the Sale
Once sold, we’ll manage payment and handle logistics, keeping you informed at every stage.
