Sakai Kobu is a Toki Prefecture Living National Treasure and is well known for his Kobu-Shino glaze that exudes a soft, ethereal appearance. Sakai’s development of his unique Kobu-Shino has played an important role in the contemporary Shino scene and his work has been influential on the style of a whole new generation of potters.
