Malcolm Martin & Gaynor Dowling

(British b.1959; b.1965)

Gloucestershire based couple, Malcolm and Gaynor have been collaborating with wood since 1997. They use traditional hand tool techniques to carve wood creating sculptures and vessels that explore form and play on dimensions.

The couple work simultaneously on pieces together out of their studio in Stroud. Malcolm originally studied Fine Art before specialising in sculpture whereas Dowling trained as a textile artist. The different artistic backgrounds allow them to approach their practice from two different viewpoints, sculpture and craft.
