Marijke Part of the Panel Discussing Collecting Contemporary Ceramics

Marijke is looking forward to an evening at "Material: Earth", a major new exhibition celebrating the use of clay in contemporary art. The event is being organised and hosted at the Messum’s pioneering multi-purpose gallery and arts centre in Wiltshire. The exhibition aims to illustrate "how since the 1970’s there has been a quiet but steady progression in the use of ceramics away from studio pottery towards the challenging and immersive arena of contemporary art."

Collectors will be offered a unique opportunity to gain insight and engage with auction and ceramic art specialists Marijke from Maak and Paul Atterbury from the Antiques Roadshow. The audience will be able to ask questions about the ceramic industry and secondary art market as they sit surrounded by unique and inspiring ceramic pieces. Works featured are by many exhibited in our Maak Auctions, including the record breaking Hans Coper and Lucie Rie, as well as work by Edmund de Waal, Ewen Henderson, Gordon Baldwin and other leading names in British Studio Ceramics.
