Maike Dahl

(German b.1969)

Maike Dahl is a Silversmith and Designer working in Hanover, Germany. Her distinct style over overlapping and folding sheets of metal incorporates her desire to reintroduce silver into everyday life with creating tactile and functional forms. Her inspiration around the cut and folded form derives from modern day ‘take-away’ culture and cardboard cartons. She was awarded the Auguste-Paendieck Prize from Sparkasse Bremen in 2008.

She began her career with a three year apprenticeship as a jeweller in Kaufbeuren, Southern Germany. She then went on to complete a five year degree in metalworking and silver smithing in Hildesheim and Camberwell College of Arts, London.
